OUR STORY

Since 2011, the Center for Research Informatics (CRI) has advanced the forefront of biomedical and biological sciences at the University of Chicago and beyond.

We offer researchers state-of-the-art technologies for working with data—from acquisition and storage to analysis and sharing. Our 35+ member staff has expertise in clinical data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, software engineering, and genomic analysis. Recent projects have included designing predictive models of adverse clinical events, developing a clinical trials management software system, and creating custom genomics pipelines. Our team built and now manages one of the largest research-based clinical data warehouses in the country, along with an infrastructure environment that supports high performance computing, compliant storage, and virtualization.

As well as working on world-class research at UChicago, we collaborate on major multi-institutional projects that are changing the face of healthcare and data science. Our work also extends into the private sector, where we support both mature and start-up firms with expert consulting on clinical and genomic data analysis. In addition, we are committed to creating opportunities for informatics education.

We hope you’ll take a look around and consider making the CRI your research partner. If you have any questions or want to talk more about a project, whether it’s BSD research or an outside initiative, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We are committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion for the benefit of our team members, our institution, our clients, and our community. We will accomplish this by incorporating our values into hiring practices, retention, and culture.

OUR MISSION

The CRI’s mission is to provide informatics resources and services to the BSD, to participate in clinical and biomedical research of the highest scientific merit, and to support and promote research and education in the field of informatics.
