CLINICAL DATA ANALYTICS

The CRI clinical data analytics team designed, built, and now maintain the Clinical Research Data Warehouse (CRDW), one of the largest and richest research-based clinical data warehouses in the country. The CRDW contains more than twelve years of research-ready data from various sources including electronic medical records, billing, Cancer Registry, and REDCap. Available data include lab values, procedure and diagnosis codes, demographics, medications, and visit information.

For projects using this data, our team offers expertise in both the discovery and analysis phases of research. For the initial discovery phase, we have tools for exploring and building cohorts, and our analysts bring together and harmonize data from disparate sources to create clean, curated datasets.

When it comes to analysis, our team has specific expertise in several key areas:

  • statistical modeling
  • algorithm developement
  • data visualization
  • machine learning
  • natural language processing

RESEARCH APPLICATIONS

Our experienced team of developers creates custom applications for research. Building primarily in Python/Django and ASP.NET, they work on projects at every level of scale and complexity, from Laboratory Information Management Systems to multi-institutional research data networks. We are currently in the process of building an enterprise-level clinical trials management system for the University of Chicago.

BIOINFORMATICS

The CRI Bioinformatics Core is a team of experienced PhD bioinformaticians who can analyze high-throughput genomic data and translate the results into publication-ready reports. Their analysis work has enabled more than fifty peer-reviewed scientific publications.

The Bioinformatics Core has developed pipelines for RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Exome Sequencing, Whole Genome Re-Sequencing, Consensus Genotyping, De-novo Assembly, and more. They also have expertise in data visualization.
