SUMMARY:Actionable Analytics: From Predictive Modeling to Clinical Workflows
DESCRIPTION:Join the Graham School MSc in Biomedical Informatics program for this seminar. \nActionable Analytics: From Predictive Modeling to Clinical Workflows\nChad Konchak\nWednesday\, February 12\, 2020\n5:00-6:00pm\nGleacher Center \nREGISTER HERE\nThe speaker will discuss: electronic medical record functionality that allows for the integration of predictive modeling and analytics tools into clinical workflows\, interactive dashboards and analytical tools (within the context of workflows) that take advantage of and integrate with existing electronic medical record workflows and functionality\, the evaluation of different modeling techniques against implementation based on the tools available to integrate predictive models into clinical workflows\, mechanisms to formalize the processes needed to govern predictive modeling efforts\, and the current limitations of predictive modeling and how a shift towards prescriptive analytics is required. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Chad Konchak is the Assistant Vice President of Clinical Analytics at NorthShore University Health System: a five-hospital integrated healthcare delivery system in the northern Chicagoland area. Chad is also faculty for the American College of Healthcare Executives\, where he teaches a cluster seminar called The Strategic Use of Healthcare Analytics\, which is held twice a year. \nNorthShore is an industry leader in informatics and analytics and was the first health system in the nation to achieve HIMSS stage seven for ambulatory care. In his role\, Chad oversees the team responsible for NorthShore’s clinical and operational reporting\, analysis and predictive modeling efforts\, which focus on leveraging and delivering data (e.g. via clinical decision support systems) that improve the quality of care\, patient experience\, and efficiency of the healthcare system. Example of projects include predictive models to identify chronic disease patients at risk for hospitalization; a beautiful visualization platform that allows physicians to easily identify at-risk patients and take action to assist them; a tool that helps surgeons analyze their patient’s temperature; a GIS visualization tool called “What’s Going Around”\, which gives clinicians real-time displays of syndromic epidemiology in our Electronic Medical Record; and a method of identifying and reaching out to patients with unrecognized high blood pressure (for which NorthShore received a Healthcare Informatics Magazine Innovator Award and a recent mention by the Director of the CDC in the New England Journal of Medicine). Chad also serves as the HIT lead for population health where he oversees the development of a comprehensive analytics infrastructure that will support population management in the ambulatory setting. These tools will enable NorthShore to identify patients at risk of a high utilization of services\, predict uncontrolled chronic diseases\, and will serve as a platform to facilitate preventative care needs.
