CLSSS: Emerging computational tools to inform clinical cancer practice

June 27, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Join us for this month’s meeting of the Computational Life Sciences Seminar Series.

Title: Emerging computational tools to inform clinical cancer practice
Speaker: Alex Pearson, MD, PhD
Date: Thursday, June 27, 2019
Time: 3:00-4:00pm
Location: KCBD 1103

We will describe new computational approaches designed to interface with and inform clinical practice. We will discuss agent based models for combination treatment design as well as histopathology deep learning to assist molecular diagnostics.

Speaker: Medical oncologist Alexander Pearson performs basic and translational science research related to understanding how head and neck cancers develop treatment resistance, and proposing new ways to overcome this resistance. His research integrates mathematical modeling and statistical genomics with laboratory data, in order to propose more effective treatment combinations. His clinical interests include treatment of head and neck cancers, and caring for patients with squamous cell carcinoma and salivary gland cancers.
