Using NLP in Clinical Data Analytics
Speakers: Brian Furner and Tomasz Oliwa, PhD
Date: Thursday, March 7, 2019
Time: 1:30-3:30pm
Location: KCBD 1103

Inside the trove of unstructured and semi-structured clinical text, there exist vast amounts of data that remain untapped and largely unavailable for analysis.

In this Seminar Series session, the CRI will present practical introductory examples of how natural language processing (NLP) can be applied to turn this textual data into meaningful research.

Brian Furner and Tomasz Oliwa will discuss the NLP techniques of named-entity recognition, information extraction, search & retrieval, and machine learning/classification of documents and sentences. They will also share examples of data-driven interactive exploration and data visualization of text corpora and their associated NLP results.

Join us to learn how, by extracting information from text and turning it into accessible knowledge, previously untapped textual data sources can be harnessed to help drive research projects.

Please register to reserve your seat.
