Join the CRI Seminar Series for another installment of our free training sessions about REDCap, a self-managed, secure, web-based solution designed to support data collection strategies for research studies. This month, CRI Business Analyst and REDCap expert Julissa Acevedo will help you expand on your basic REDCap skill set by covering intermediate and advanced topics.

This seminar will cover:

  • Longitudinal Data Collection: how to set up your project for longitudinal data collection
  • Edit Data Dictionary via Excel: how to edit your data dictionary in Excel to make mass changes
  • Data Import Tool: how to import previously collected data from Excel or Access into REDCap
  • Data Exports, Reports, and Stats: how to view and analyze your data via exports, reports, and statistical charts; showcase of new Report Folders feature
  • User Rights: including user roles, data access groups, and double-data entry
  • Smart Variables: how to use dynamic variables in calculated fields, conditional/branching logic, and piping
  • Smart Devices: how to collect data via iPads, tablets, and smart phones
  • Preview of Newest Features: Alerts & Notifications, Missing Data Codes, Rich Text Editor

Some basic REDCap knowledge is required for this session. If you’d like to review the slides from our previous Introduction to REDCap session, they are available here. Bringing your laptop to follow along is encouraged, but not required.

About the speaker: Julissa Acevedo, the CRI’s resident REDCap Administrator since 2012, is the point of contact for all REDCap inquiries at the University of Chicago. Julissa has personally guided many investigators with their study design and she takes pride in providing exceptional technical support. An active member of the REDCap Consortium, she attends REDCapCon annually to collaborate with other REDCap experts to further advance the use of REDCap at the University. Prior to joining the CRI, Julissa developed and supported various applications at Motorola, Bank of America, and the U.S. Census Bureau.

About the series: Since 2012, the Center for Research Informatics has offered free training sessions for the University of Chicago community in informatics research tools and techniques.
