How CRI and Clinical Partners Are Using Synthetic Data to Improve Care

By News

The Center for Research Informatics (CRI), in collaboration with UChicago Medicine’s Center for Healthcare Delivery Science and Innovation (HDSI) and Information Technology Services (UCM IT), is transforming how clinicians and researchers access and use healthcare data through the ADAMS Center. By providing centralized data and synthetic datasets, the team makes it possible to explore insights more quickly, reduce risk, and drive meaningful improvements in patient care, without compromising privacy.

Read more about how this collaborative approach is helping teams move from questions to impact more quickly.

REDCAP LOGIN PROCESS UPDATE

By News, REDCap

We are implementing an important update to enhance the security and reliability of our login process. In the near future, all users will transition to signing in with their CNetID or UCMED account via the University’s Okta authentication platform. This change will:

• Strengthen account security through Okta’s enterprise-grade identity management.
• Simplify access with a single unified account for all associated services.
• Improve the overall user experience with modern authentication standards.

All University of Chicago and Medical Center REDCap users, including external collaborators, will be impacted. All existing user accounts (UCHAD, BSDAD, external collaborator) will be mapped and migrated to a CNetID or UCMED as part of this update. REDCap survey participants will not be impacted.

For most users, no immediate action is required at this time as we were able to successfully map your account and projects. For a select list of users, we have already sent a REDCap survey via email in order to confirm their CNetID or UCMED information. We will provide detailed instructions and a transition timeline in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth and seamless changeover. Please contact REDCap Support with any questions or concerns.

We encourage you to stay informed by checking this login page or visiting our CRI REDCap website (https://cri.uchicago.edu/redcap/) for further communications regarding this update. Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve account security and access for all users.

HIMSS 2025: Transforming Healthcare Data with Julie Johnson

By News

Through a series of interviews, Julie Johnson, Executive Director of the Center for Research Informatics, shares her perspective on the current state of healthcare data and the innovations shaping the future of patient care. She discusses her partnership with MDClone, explaining how the tool enables rapid, self-service access to data and allows clinicians and researchers to fail fast, pivot quickly, and avoid months-long waits for critical insights.
